National Night Out

FYI members Laney, Ishika, and Kylee volunteered at National Night Out to educate their peers that most teens do not drink. We played a "Duck Away from Alcohol Parties" game and offered prizes, stickers, and stickers.  About 400 people visited the table. Members also participated in a chalk contest spreading prevention messages to the public prior to National Night Out.

School Your Community, Banner, Social Media, Greeting Cards & Dress the Part

FYI members Laney, Olivia O, Alayn, Liv B, Justin, Shreya, Bella, and Kylee attend the Brewer game with other local FACT groups to celebrate FACT's Sweet 16th Birthday and a tobacco-free Miller Park. We had so much fun meeting other people with our same interests and spreading the truth about tobacco with the FACT Banner, a message on the score board, posting to social media, and signing a  FACT thank you card to be sent to the Brewers. Laney and Shreya also wore their FACT shirts to the game!  The best part was a Brewer Win!

School Your Community

FYI hosted an outdoor movie night, featuring La La Land, with games and the premier of their commercial made by Bryce Tome. About 100 community members attended the event.  All had a fun time watching the movie under the stars.

Human Billboard

On World No Tobacco Day FYI students Liv, Jacob, Shreya, and Hali did a Human Billboard with Greendale FACT students spreading the truth about tobacco. Our sign said "Wishin' You a Smoke-Free Summer".  We did the human billboard over Loomis Rd where many cars frequently travel.  We had lots of positive "honks" from passing cars.

Sticker Shock Campaign

Hali, Liv, and Shreya did a Parents Who Host Lose the Most sticker shock campaign and Kwik Trip. They placed stickers on cases of alcohol and set out a fact sheet sharing the dangers of providing alcohol to teens at graduation parties. The sheet also gave parents tips on how to host a safe party and make sure their kids were going to safe parties at other family homes. Students evaluated the project by asking patrons of the store if they noticed the campaign and if they thought it was an effective project. We had seven people who agree to be surveyed, three who bough alcohol, and one who noticed the campaign and thought it was effective.

Tobacco Tricks, Not Treats, Dress the Part, & Stick it to Em

FYI students had a blast at Relay for Life May 19th. We had a group of 10 who participated in the event. FYI had a table with a lollipop tree and out tobacco/candy look-alike boards. We shared with other students at Relay how tobacco products look similar to candy, then they could choose a sucker off the tree. We also had matching FACT t-shirts for the event sharing how students could decrease their risk for cancer by never using tobacco. We also attempted our first run at Stick it to em by clipping the clips to other students walking around the track. We had a bit of participation with other people passing them on and coming to our booth asking about FACT.

Generation Found Movie

FYI members Bella and Justin spoke to attendees at Generation Found about the work they are doing in FYI and how peer-to-peer advocacy prevents youth substance misuse and abuse.

Root River Bowling

We had a great time celebrating all of our accomplishments this school year! FYI members had a night to remember at Root River Bowling.
